Welcome to the 2023 Year!

The first few weeks of this year have flown by.  We have been learning about all of the routines and setting ourselves up so that we can get busy with some great learning.

Swimming has been a big part of our focus so far this year with swimming every day, swimming lessons and swimming sports.  It was a little chilly and wet for some of our lessons but luckily the swimming sports day was a lovely sunny day.

We are making sure we are having Fitness, Mindfulness and Super Silent Reading every day.  We really liked using the sand art website to relax and create some wonderful looking scenes.

This week we are getting ready to start posting onto our own individual blogs.  This will be a good way to display the learning that will be happening in Room 14 this year.

How to Create the Perfect Alliteration Poem

This term in week 5 we were learning to use alliteration. Alliteration is when two or more words begin with they with the same letter or sound. They don’t have to be the same letter if they sound the same, just like c and k. We used our new alliteration skills to create a poem. The theme of the poem had to be a season and I picked summer. I used google drawing to create this DLO to present to you.

I found alliteration challenging at times because I would struggle to think of words that begin with the same sound. To overcome this challenge I used word hippo to look for synonyms. This is how I turned to hot sand in to scorching sand. Some alliteration we have heard before and that made it easier.

Do you think this looks like something fun that you would like to try? Which line do you like best?

Thanks for reading my post, I hope you enjoyed it!
